JAMB Registration 2025 Postponed: New Dates, Eligibility & Deadline Announced

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially postponed the commencement of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration. Originally slated to begin on January 31, 2025, the registration will now start on February 3, 2025. This decision was made to allow the board to implement essential adjustments to its registration templates.
Reasons for the Postponement
The postponement arises from the need to address recent changes in educational policies and to ensure a seamless registration process for all candidates. One significant factor is the suspension of certain law programs at selected universities, as submitted to JAMB by the Council for Legal Education. Additionally, JAMB has identified some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers that employed deceptive means to gain accreditation. These centers are undergoing further scrutiny and may face disapproval to maintain the integrity of the examination process.
New Registration Dates and Deadlines
The updated schedule for the 2025 UTME registration is as follows:
Registration Commencement: Monday, February 3, 2025
Registration Deadline: Saturday, March 8, 2025
For Direct Entry (DE) candidates, the registration period is set between Monday, March 10, 2025, and Wednesday, April 7, 2025.
Eligibility Criteria
Prospective candidates must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the 2025 UTME:
1. National Identification Number (NIN): Possession of a valid NIN is mandatory for registration. Candidates without a NIN should visit any National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) office to enroll.
2. Age Requirement: Candidates must be at least 16 years old in the year of admission.
3. O'Level Qualifications: A minimum of five credit passes, including Mathematics and English, in WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB examinations is required.
4. Unique Phone Number: Each candidate must have a unique phone number that has not been used for previous JAMB registrations. This number is essential for generating the JAMB Profile Code.
5. Valid Email Address: A functional email address is necessary for receiving updates and registration confirmations from JAMB.
Registration Process
To successfully register for the 2025 UTME, candidates should follow these steps:
1. Obtain the NIN: Visit a NIMC enrollment center to register and obtain your National Identification Number if you haven't already.
2. Generate JAMB Profile Code: Send an SMS with the format "NIN [space] 11-digit NIN number" to 55019 or 66019 using your unique phone number. You will receive a 10-character Profile Code on the same number.
3. Purchase JAMB ePIN: With the Profile Code, proceed to any authorized bank, online platform, or use USSD services to purchase the JAMB ePIN.

Suspension of Law Programs in Selected Universities

Candidates are advised not to select these institutions for law programs during the 2025 UTME registration, as admissions into their law faculties have been suspended for the upcoming academic session.
Introduction of Mock Trial for Underage Students
In a bid to prepare younger candidates for future examinations, JAMB has introduced a UTME Mock Trial for underage students (those below 16 years). This initiative aims to familiarize these students with the UTME process, allowing them to experience the examination environment before they become eligible. The Mock Trial is scheduled for Saturday, April 5, 2025.
