Position: Finance Officer

Job Type: Full-time

Reports to: Finance Manager

Job Summary:

INSO is seeking a Finance Officer to support its financial operations by ensuring compliance with organizational policies, donor regulations, and best financial management practices. The Finance Officer will play a key role in maintaining financial records, preparing reports, managing transactions, and supporting audits. This role requires high attention to detail, integrity, and strong analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Management & Reporting:

 ???? Maintain accurate financial records and        ensure timely data entry in financial systems.

 ???? Prepare periodic financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.

 ???? Monitor budget expenditures and report any variances to the Finance Manager.

 ???? Assist in the preparation of donor financial reports in compliance with grant agreements.

2. Accounts Payable & Receivable:

 ???? Process invoices, payments, and expense reimbursements accurately and in a timely manner.

 ???? Maintain proper documentation of all financial transactions.

 ???? Ensure timely collection of receivables and reconcile accounts regularly.

3. Bank & Cash Management:

Reconcile bank statements and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.

Maintain proper records of petty cash transactions and perform periodic cash counts.

Ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs while minimizing cash risks.

4. Compliance & Audit Support:

Ensure financial transactions adhere to INSO’s policies and donor regulations.

Assist in internal and external audits by preparing required documents and responding to queries.

Implement and uphold strong internal control measures to prevent fraud and financial mismanagement.

5. Payroll & Taxation:

Assist in payroll preparation, ensuring timely payment of salaries and statutory deductions.

Ensure compliance with local tax laws and support tax filings where necessary.

6. Support & Capacity Building:

Provide financial training and support to field teams to enhance financial literacy.

Work closely with program and logistics teams to ensure financial coordination.

Assist in the development and implementation of improved financial procedures.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A professional qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is an advantage.

At least 3 years of experience in finance and accounting, preferably in the humanitarian or non-profit sector.

Strong knowledge of financial management principles, budgeting, and reporting.

Experience working with international donors and understanding their financial regulations.

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAGE, or other ERP systems).

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ability to work with financial data.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

High integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

Prior experience working in humanitarian contexts or conflict-affected regions.

Familiarity with INSO’s mandate and operations.
